SLAUGHTER: 25th-Anniversary Edition Of 'Strappado' Available
April 23, 2012Canadian thrash/death metal pioneers SLAUGHTER have released a 25th-anniversary two-disc edition of their 1987 full-length debut, "Strappado". The set also contains the band's rare demos — "Meatcleaver", "Bloody Karnage" (both recorded in 1984) and "Surrender Or Die" (1985) — and previously unreleased live material recorded in 1986 when the band opened for CELTIC FROST in Toronto. The limited anniversary release also features new cover art by Eric "Rot" Engelmann.
The vinyl reissue of "Strappado" was made available last year through the Canadian vinyl label War On Music Records.
SLAUGHTER famously included Chuck Schuldiner on guitar for a brief moment in the mid-'80s before Schuldiner resumed his frontman duties in DEATH.
SLAUGHTER was a crucial player in te early Toronto thrash metal scene alongside genre heavyweights RAZOR, SACRIFICE and EXCITER. SLAUGHTER guitarist Dave Hewson made a guest vocal appearance on the latest SACRIFICE album, "The Ones I Condemn".
